"There have been times where I’ve felt like an outsider in the industry. As an economic-development professional working within the tech community (and being a woman, and not a coder), there have been times when gender bias has led to having my authority questioned — at times in obvious ways and others not so much. I’ve definitely had to teach myself over the years to talk the talk of a technologist (as best as I could!). I even enrolled in some classes at 3rd Ward back in the day to build some tech skills — skills I understood through my work to be vital to the city’s future.  Read More
