Bullies masquerading as girbosses. Microaggressions from teammates. Managers who gaslight you when you make reasonable requests. There are countless ways in which a work environment can be toxic and all of them can take a massive toll on your mental and physical health. So how do you report these incidents? How do you find your way out of a toxic environment? And what are the steps you can take to survive until you’re able to put an exit strategy in place?

At LMHQ’s November Women’s Breakfast, our panel of experts tackled all of these questions and more. They shared their lived experiences, lessons learned, and recommendations for navigating your way through a toxic workplace.

Erin Andersen is the CEO & Founder of Your Brand Networker and is a Career Transition Coach and LinkedIn Marketing Strategist based in NYC. On the Career Transition side of her business, Erin focuses on helping clients successfully transition across industries and helping corporate employees transition out of toxic work cultures. Erin focuses on helping SMBs build a LinkedIn strategy that organically attracts traffic to their profile, content and engagement to reach their target audience. She also has a LinkedIn Training program for Virtual Assistants and Social Media Managers.

Saira Gangji is an independent licensed workplace investigator, a solopreneur, and the founder of hrology. Saira has a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management from the University of Toronto, 20+ years of HR experience, and 100+ workplace investigations under her belt. Saira believes in conducting investigations the right way - fairly, thoughtfully, thoroughly, and compassionately. Saira is a firm believer in the values of kindness, integrity, transparency, protecting her peace, and being unapologetically herself.

Susanne Tedrick is the author of the critically acclaimed Women of Color in Tech: A Blueprint for Inspiring and Mentoring the Next Generation of Technology Innovators, a book designed to inform and inspire women of color to pursue careers in the tech industry, despite known (and less discussed) challenges. She performs community service work for several non-profits, including serving as Vice-Chair of the Advancing Tech Talent and Diversity Executive Council for CompTIA and coalition member for NPower's Command Shift initiative. Susanne currently works as a cloud infrastructure specialist for Microsoft.

Sophie Kleeman is a senior editor on Insider's investigations team. Previously, she was a freelance writer and a staff reporter and news editor at Gizmodo.
