LMHQ's Women's Breakfast: Health + Wellness

Date: 11/14/2018

Time: 8:30am
Where: LMHQ, 150 Broadway, New York NY

Join us at LMHQ for an important conversation about mental health and wellness at work and in everyday life.

Did you know that depression is the leading cause of disability, with more than 300 million people suffering from depression and anxiety globally? A recent World Health Organization-led study estimates that depression and anxiety disorders cost the global economy $1 trillion each year in lost productivity. Dysfunctional working environments, including a negative organizational or managerial environment, or even just lacking available support to carry out work tasks, can have a serious impact on employees that may lead to physical and mental health issues, even as simple as feeling stressed or burnt out.

So, how do we start breaking down the stigma about mental health and bring mental wellness into our lives? Governmental and city-based programs, like New York City’s ThriveNYC and other official strategies and policies, can bring awareness to the mental health crisis and provide resources to help people live healthier lives and support healthier working environments.

Hear from Sophie Pauze, Strategic Partnerships Advisor at ThriveNYC – the comprehensive mental health plan for New York City – in conversation with Keisha Zollar, actor-writer-comedienne, along with experts in the mental health, wellness, and HR industries. They'll discuss why strategies for mental health and wellness at work are dire, how your workplace environment can promote better mental health and wellness policies, and how to take action.

About ThriveNYC
ThriveNYC is New York City’s public health approach to mental wellbeing, seeking to integrate mental health across all policies, create a culture of total health, and builds a movement that reaches NYC and beyond. The initiative encompasses 54 different programs organized around the following principles: change the culture, act early, close treatment gaps, partner with communities, use data better and position government to lead.
