Did you know that in the U.S., fewer CEOs are women than are named John?!

According to a study by Deloitte, diversity and inclusion in the workforce is a growing concern, with more than 65% of executives rating it as a crucial issue. Since human capital is the most valuable resource in our 21st century economy, leading organizations now see diversity and inclusion as a strategy to enhance employee engagement, improve company brand, and drive performance.

More fun facts: racially diverse teams outperform non-diverse ones by 35%. Same for companies leading their industry in gender diversity, with 15% of them experiencing better financial returns. It seems that hiring diverse employees is a no-brainer, but it’s not as simple as checking a box anymore.

About the Speakers:

Minda Harts
Minda Harts is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service of NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of
Public Service. She is the founder of The Memo LLC, a career development company for women of color. Minda's debut book, The Memo, comes out in Fall 2019 with The Hachette Book Group. She's been featured in Forbes, CNBC, The Guardian, Fast Company. Minda is also the host of a weekly career podcast for professional women of color called Secure The Seat.

Lindsay Harris
Lindsay is the Global Ethnicity Lead for Accenture, a global management consulting firm with over 440,000 employees. In this role, she is responsible for all aspects of Accenture's ethnicity strategy across the US, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Developing training programs specific to ethnic minorities, detailed data analysis and understanding the needs of Accenture employees are key components of her role. Aside from her daily job, she is the lead of the New York Metro area PRIDE ERG. In this role, she is responsible for developing educational and social networking events for Accenture employees in the area. She is also in charge of planning community service initiatives, as well as collaborating with other Accenture and external ERGs to plan events that bring awareness to LGBTQ causes. She is also a member of various other ERGs, including the African American, Hispanic American, Persons with Disabilities, Asian American and Women's ERG.

Ezinne Kwubiri
Graduate of Howard University School of Business, Ezinne retired from the financial services industry and set her sights to the media/ entertainment industry. During her 11-year tenure at Viacom, home of notable TV brands such as MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and BET Networks, Ezinne served in various roles - from auditing, compliance, and project management to change management, diversity & inclusion and employee engagement. Roles where she lead and managed strategies regarding people development - training, communication and cultural development. Ezinne’s proven track record for executing with excellence, driving innovative results, and championing for progressive change has led her to her next professional adventure at fashion giant, H&M. In the newly created role as Head of Inclusion & Diversity, North America, Ezinne will oversee and develop the inclusion, diversity & cultural strategy for the largest H&M market. Her key priorities will be on employee engagement, customer offer and social impact. Partnering with the President H&M North America, the Global Head of Inclusion & Diversity for H&M Group in Sweden and various stakeholders in the company, Ezinne’s goal is to disrupt unconscious bias in the workplace and provide programming that fosters an environment of inclusion & diversity across the North America region.
