Designing for Yourself: Using Behavioral Science to Work Smarter, Not Harder

Date: 12/10/2019

Time: 6:00pm
Where: LMHQ, 150 Broadway, 20th Floor, New York NY
Fee: $60

People behave in peculiar ways. We plan to exercise at 6am, but when the alarm goes off we hit Snooze. We know flu shots save lives, but never get around to getting one. The traditional model of human behavior holds that human beings are rational actors, but everyday experience tells us that’s simply not true!

Behavioral science offers an alternative framework to help changemakers conceive new solutions across all domains of social impact. This interactive workshop will help participants apply behavioral science to their everyday lives so they can increase productivity, achieve their goals, and make more time for what really matters.

The event starts at 6PM, refreshments will be provided.

Facilitator: Nicki Cohen is a Senior Associate at ideas42 working on behavioral innovations in health, sustainability, and digital financial services. Prior to joining ideas42, Nicki worked at The Boston Consulting Group in Chicago where she executed data-driven analysis to solve strategic problems in health care and financial services. Nicki holds a BA in Cognitive Science from Yale University, where she researched the evolutionary origins of economic behaviors through experiments with capuchin monkeys. Nicki enjoys reading science fiction, climbing rocks, and making useful things out of clay

About ideas42: We’re a non-profit applying insights from human behavior—why people do what they do—to help improve lives, build better systems, and drive social change. Working globally with a range of partners, we reinvent the practices of institutions, and create better products and policies that can be scaled for maximum impact. We also teach others, ultimately striving to generate lasting impact and create a future where the universal application of behavioral science powers a world with optimal health, equitable wealth, and environments and systems that are sustainable and just for all.
