Community Breakfast with Crown Shy

Date: 05/30/2020

Time: 11:00am
Where: LMHQ, Virtual,

On May 30th, LMHQ hosted its first Community Breakfast featuring critically acclaimed Lower Manhattan restaurant Crown Shy. Sumaiya Bangee, Pastry Sous Chef, showed participants how to elevate their at-home brunch game with a modern twist to a classic recipe. Sumaiya taught the audience how to pull from basic pantry staples to create a first-class home dining experience and gave them answers to their pressing culinary questions. All proceeds from this event were donated to Rethink Food NYC.
Crown Shy is the first solo project of Chef James Kent and Restaurateur Jeff Katz. Inspired by James’s upbringing in downtown New York and his experience leading the city’s most celebrated kitchens, Crown Shy is a neighborhood seasonal restaurant elevated by fine dining training and technique.
Rethink Food NYC fights against food excess and hunger for a more sustainable and just food system. Typically, Crown Shy works with Rethink to provide food scraps after service to feed those in need in New York. During the Covid-19 crisis, Rethink’s focus has shifted to also feeding frontline workers. The Crown Shy chefs staying in 70 Pine are currently making 900 meals a day for Rethink.
