How To Make The Most Of Your Office Space’s Square Footage (Or Lack Thereof)

Date: 11/16/2020
So you need more office space. And you need it now. Your colleagues are desperate for a workspace outside of their living rooms, but with the COVID-19 safety regulations in place, you just don’t have enough desk space for the whole team. Staggered schedules help, but managing everyone can eat up precious time. Sure, you could look into new spaces, but build outs could take months (or years), and you need a flexible solution ASAP. You need to make the most of every square foot you have right now.
As a flexible space itself, LMHQ knows how to get creative with a floor plan, and how to rework a setup to make it the most beneficial for your team. For instance, we frequently turn our meeting rooms into long term office spaces with flexible, adaptable furniture to suit different clients, and we’ve turned our open workspace into offices; everything can be moved around, and is set up plug-and-play to accommodate whatever the client needs. And you can do this, too: here, we’ll walk you through the steps to help you maximize your space’s layout before people head back into the office.
The first thing to do is to turn those conference rooms into office space. You’ll need to use every inch of your square footage, and in the COVID-era, you probably won’t be gathering too many people around one table anyway. Note that if you need to supplement your space, it’s more cost-effective to find ad-hoc meeting room rentals than it is to find a full office.
If you just can’t squeeze out another inch in your space, consider using a temporary shared workspace like LMHQ. A shared workspace can give your team some room to stretch out, and the flexibility you need. Find a space that doesn’t lock you into a long-term contract, so you can easily head back into your regular office when you’re ready for it.
Last (but certainly not least): communicate with your team members. Find out exactly what kind of setup your team needs before making any major moves. If, after that assessment, you’re sure you need to find extra space elsewhere, make sure that space is stocked with the amenities your team needs to make the switch as seamless as possible. We’re all navigating strange, new circumstances these days, but creating comfort for your team in a fresh or adapted environment is key to ensuring everyone is safe and happy at work.
As you’re getting creative with your current space, remember that adding on or relocating to another space like LMHQ could offer you and your team a great opportunity. Your team will have access to a larger community, and can have access to additional benefits like virtual networking events, workshops and speakers. With a space that can adapt with you, there’s no limit to the ways in which your team can succeed.
